Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I began my business in May of 2010.
What is your primary product or service?
I provide outdoor and indoor activities for all fitness levels. I offer Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Snowshoeing and In-Home Personal Training.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in Fitness while serving nine years of honorable service in the U.S. Air Force (both stateside and abroad). I've hiked and biked in MA, NH, UT, ID, CA, Great Britain and Italy. I've also enjoyed kayaking and snowshoeing; jogging; working out at the gym; and participating in such sports as softball, volleyball, and wallyball. I decided to capitalize on my interests by starting Berkshire Outdoor Fitness. I first earned a certificate in Personal Training from the American Council on Exercise (ACE), then completed an Associate's Degree in Physical Fitness at Berkshire Community College (BCC), and now have over 5 years of training experience.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I customize Outdoor Adventures to the customer's/group's needs, desires or interests. I provide these Guided Adventures throughout Berkshire County. My approach to Indoor Fitness is to put the "personal" back into Personal Training. I will assist you in reaching or most likely exceed your fitness goals. I do not believe in "one size fits all". I incorporate cardiorespiratory training, strength training, flexibility training, neuromuscular training (balance and agility) into my exercise regiments. On top of this, I enjoy assisting people in improving their posture.
